Thirsty Scholar exudes history

Thirsty Scholar is located in the university’s Topelia block, in one of the city’s oldest buildings. The building was originally a military hospital, and rumour has it that you can find war time bullet holes and traces of bombings on the outside wall (close to Thirsty Scholar’s entrance). The interior is decorated with paintings, wall hangings and historical weapons.

Did you know that the hospital mortuary’s crematorium used to be at the spot where there is now Thirsty Scholar’s bar?

Beer garden and a wide selection

The selection of approximately 50 varied beers and ciders has something for everyone, and let’s not forget about the wines, long drinks and cocktails. Warm toasts and snacks fill hungry tummies in the evening. At the beer garden, surrounded by oak trees, it’s easy to forget that you’re in Helsinki central area. Inside you can play board games or have a relaxing evening by yourself or with friends.

Sustainability

We aim to provide organic and local products and pay attention to allergies and special diets. That is why we always have organic, gluten free, vegan and microbrewed options.

Thirsty welcomes people in students’ overalls

You can get a discount on all draught drinks as well as wines by showing Thirsty’s own loyalty card for students. You can also
